Ever since her successful debuts at the Opéra National de Lyon in 2009 , Claire Levacher has established herself internationally as a conductor with a wide operatic and symphonic repertoire including contemporary world premieres.  

She often appears as guest conductor with leading ensembles such as the Radiosymphonie Orchester Wien, the Wienerkammerorchester, the Symphonieorchester Voralberg, the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, the Orchestre National de Lorraine, the Orchestre National d'Ile-de-France, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Orchestre d'Auvergne, the Orchestre de Picardie, the Dalasinfonietta of Sweden, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, the Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Lebanon, the Vietnam Philharmonic Orchestra.

After serving as assistant conductor at the Opéra National de Paris, at the Opéra Comique in Paris, at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich and at the Theater an der Wien, Claire Levacher has been invited to conduct at the Göteborg Opera , at the Theater an der Wien-Kammeroper, at the Bregenz Festival, at the Opera du Rhin, at the Prague Opera, at the Graz Opera.

 

From 2020 onwards, Claire Levacher is Professorin für Orchesterausbildung at the University of Graz, Austria. Before 2011, she had developed her pedagogical activity as professor of conducting at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) and as Musical Director of the Orchestre des Lauréats at the CNSMDP. She has also been invited to conduct at the Univeristy of Illinois (USA), at the Freiburg Hochschule für Musik, at the Budapest Franz Liszt Academy, at the franco-german Opus XXI Academy and at the Neemrana Foundation (India).


A pianist by training, Claire Levacher obtained three first prizes from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, a master’s degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Michigan (USA) and she was awarded a French government grant to further study conducting with Leopold Hager at the Musikhochschule of Vienna. She won the first prize at the International Conducting Competition in Treviso (Italy) and the second prize in orchestral conducting at the Prague Spring International Music Festival (Czech Republic).

 

In the 2022/2023 season, Claire Levacher conducts the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Vienna for the «Christmas in Vienna » TV live concert at the Konzerthaus of Vienna and makes her debuts with the Klangforum of Vienna for two creations of Sarah Nemtsov and Michael Pelzel. A reinvitation brings her back to Bregenz Festival with Werther of Massenet.

With effect of 2024, Claire Levacher has been appointed chief conductor and artistic advisor of Dalasinfoniettan in Falun/Sweden.


In recognition of her services to French musical life, Claire Levacher has been appointed 'Officier des Arts et des Lettres' by the French Ministry of Culture.
